Deep Tissue Massage

60 Minutes: $60

90 Minutes: $90

Deep Tissue Massage is a firm pressure therapeutic massage.  Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve tension in the muscles and the connective tissue.  In a Deep Tissue Massage, a massage therapist uses manual techniques that target specific areas of tension in deep muscle tissues.  Specifically, the therapist works to release adhesions, which are rigid bands of tissue that can cause pain and chronic tension and restrict motion.  My Deep Tissue is more of a Trigger Point / Active Release technique.  I will have you doing different ranges of motion while I hold the knot.  This helps the muscle to contract and release faster than the traditional form of Deep Tissue.

Deep Tissue massage is recommended for individuals who experience constant pain, are involved in heavy physical activities, such as athletes and patients who have sustained physical injury.

It is normal for clients receiving a Deep Tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two after their massage.  When receiving a Deep Tissue massage it is important to communicate with the massage therapist what you are feeling and if the pressure is to hard or not enough.

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin.  The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means "Universal Life" and (Ki) which means "Energy".  Reiki is a subtle form of energy work using the life force energy so that we can heal ourselves.  In Reiki, the healing energy is allowed to flow into the practitioner and then the Reiki practitioner acts as a vehicle-through which this energy can be passed onto another individual via the practitioners hands.

Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things.  Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and  help others.  It is believed that a person's "Ki" or energy should be strong and free flowing.  When this is true a person's body and mind is in a positive state of health.  When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation.  Many people use Reiki for wellness.  Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in crating an environment to facilitate healing.  Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings. Reiki treatments restores balance and harmony to the whole person, bringing about a sense of wellness.

Myofascial Release

60 Minutes: $60

90 Minutes: $90

What is Fascia?  Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads through out the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption.  Trauma, posture, or inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures and/or organs.  Fascial restrictions can exert approximately 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch of pain sensitive structures producing pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, and restrictions in range of motion.  Since many of the standard tests such as x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc, do not show the fascial restrictions, it is thought that an extremely high percentage of people suffer with pain and / or lack of motion may be having fascial problems, but most go undiagnosed.

The John F. Barns Myofascial Release approach consists of the gentle application of sustained pressure into the fascial restrictions.  This essential low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

Myofascial Release allows the chronic inflammatory response to resolve and eradicates the enormous pressure of myofacial restrictions exerted on pain-sensitive structures to alleviate symptoms and allow the body's natural healing capacity to function.
